Back-To-School Night – You will meet your child’s teachers and learn important school information. (September 19, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.)

Joint Parent Teacher Association - School Site Council Potluck Meetings - For this first time, these two groups will have two joint meetings: Wednesday, September 12 will be both groups’ first meeting of the year; Wednesday, April 9, both groups will consider the School Site Plan. Both meetings will be potluck dinners and will start at 5:30 p.m. The PTA will provide child care and translation.

Annual Title I Meeting – Learn how funds are used at Bret Harte and about Academic and Attendance data. Title I is a federally funded program that supports the academic achievement of students who have scored Basic or Below Basic on the state standardized tests. (Tuesday, November 6)

Annual Gate Meeting - This meeting will discuss the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program at Bret Harte. Please see the newsletter for the date and time.

Breakfast for Parents and Staff – Parents, staff and teachers stop by the Parent Center in Room 102 to enjoy coffee, tea, and breakfast goodies. Contributions are always welcome. Friday, September 7 and Friday, May 9, at 8 a.m.

8th Grade Parent Meeting – Learn about the special activities for 8^th Graders which are held at the end of the year: Class Picnic, Dinner Dance and Promotion.  (April)

EXPO! - This is Bret Harte’s annual Saturday Open House and a time to celebrate the accomplishments of our students. Parents, prospective families and the community can visit classrooms, meet teachers and enjoy student performances.  (Saturday, May 10).

Music Nights – Twice a year, Bret Harte’s instrumental music students perform a lively concert for parents and the community. A small donation is requested. (Wednesday, December 12 and Wednesday,May 28).

Community Work Days – Students join parents and staff (rain or shine) to work on major projects to beautify and fix up Bret Harte.  Sponsored by the PTA Bret Harte Improvement Committee (BHIC), these are fun and productive days.  (Saturday, October 27 and Saturday, April 19)
