Principal

Ms. Teresa Williams is the new principal at Bret Harte. She was formerly an Assistant Principal at Oakland Technical High School.
 

Vice Principals

Mary Giles, Administrative Assistant Principal (AAP) is in charge of discipline for students with last names beginning with Lef-Z.  She also works with the Student Council and organizes assemblies and school activities.  She supervises Campus Security, presides over the School Attendance Review Board and chairs the Safety Committee.

Bob Hood, Assistant Principal (AP) is in charge of discipline for students with last names beginning with A-Lee. He also oversees the physical site and sits on the Bret Harte Improvement Committee.

Counselor

Carolyn Traylor is the Counselor for all of Bret Harte's students.  The counselor is a connecting link between the school, students, parents, teachers and the community. Counselor responsibilities include:

  • Academic planning, goal setting and record keeping
  • Referrals to outside agencies and school programs
  • Crisis prevention and intervention
  • Coordination of placement in bilingual, reading and special education classes
  • Data processing for the school
  • Implementing the Master Schedule for the entire academic program

Students who would like to see the counselor should fill out a “request to see counselor” form. They will be called to the office for their appointment within one or two days.  Parents who would like to see the counselor should make an appointment so the Counselor can reserve time for their visit.

School Secretary

Gayle Fake is the School Secretary
